Sabah Newspaper columnist Mevlüt Tezel wrote about the housing market in today's column. He pointed out that the frozen product market in Turkey has reached 5 billion liras, and that socio-economic factors such as the increased participation of housewives in business life and the increase in the number of individuals living alone are shown behind this growth.
Regarding the issue, Tezel said, "I think the most important reason is that the number of single-person households in our country has increased by 77.2 percent in the last 10 years, reaching approximately 5.2 million in 2023. It can be said that those living alone generally meet their nutritional needs with frozen products."

Most of the residences throughout Türkiye are 2 rooms and 1 living room or 3 rooms and 1 living room. Stating that in 2017, a ban was imposed on the construction of 1+0 studio residences in new buildings, following complaints that they did not appeal to family life and were used for purposes other than their intended purpose, Tezel said, "The smallest apartments are now built with 1 room and 1 living room, measuring 28.5 square meters."
Tezel underlined that the 'unintended use' discourse is illogical, and when considered with this logic, 3+1 flats are also used for purposes other than their intended purpose.
